Overview

Weavile has the niche of being the best Ice-type Pokemon in the metagame. Weavile can outspeed most of the metagame after it Mega Evolves and thanks to Refrigerate and its ability to use Fake Out and Feint, Weavile has the ability to outprioritize many Pokemon, such as Extreme Speed Dragonite and Zygarde. Weavile also has good offensive typing, hitting most of the metagame for neutral damage. Thus, it can force many switches when out on the field. However, as the definition of a glass cannon, Weavile doesn't have many switch-in opportunities, on account of being both extremely frail and weak to entry hazards such as Stealth Rock. Weavile tends to be held back by its poor movepool; however, due to a lack of preparation for Ice-type coverage, making it an anti-meta offensive typing, Weavile's lack of coverage often doesn't matter.

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Feint
- Return
- Low Kick / Throat Chop

Set Comments:

Moves:

Fake Out is a key move for Weavile, allowing it to deal free damage on opponents, as well as breaking Mimikyu's Disguise and Dragonite's Multiscale, while also allowing it to revenge kill boosted sweepers such as Dragonite and Zygarde. Feint is another great move, which allows Weavile to beat out slower Pokemon using Extreme Speed, and outprioritizes most other moves. With a refrigerate boost, Weavile's Return is a huge threat to any Pokemon that doesn't resist it and is the strongest STAB move of choice on this set. Another good move that can be used on Weavile is Low Kick, since it provides good coverage and knocks down bulky Steel-types that resist Ice-type attacks, such as Arceus-Steel, Kartana and Dialga, as well as opposing Weavile and Arceus-Rock. Finally, Throat Chop is the best Dark-type STAB move for Weavile.

Set Details:

Glalitite is the only viable item you want to use on Weavile. Giving 40 Attack, 20 Speed, and Refrigerate, it transforms Weavile into a monstrously powerful revenge killer. Refrigerate, turns all of Weavile's Normal-type moves into Ice-type and gives them a 1.2x multiplier. This allows Weavile to spam a high powered Ice-type Return, as well as STAB priority in Fake Out and Feint. 252 Attack EVs allow Weavile to hit as hard as possible, while 252 Speed EVs coupled with a Jolly nature allows Weavile to hit 427 speed, outspeeding key threats such as Metagrossite Mimikyu, Pinsirite or Salamencite Dragonite, and Absolite Tapu Lele.

Usage Tips:

Due to Weavile's extremely frail state and inability to usually switch in safely, it's best pivoted in and used as a revenge killer when Pokemon are weakened. Weavile's high Speed and access to high priority moves allow it to revenge kill threats such as Dragonite, Zygarde and, Hoopa-U. However, since Weavile is unable to switch-in freely, it's best to use slow pivots such as Zapdos and Scizor to get it in safely. Make sure that entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock, are off the field. Having them on the field limits Weavile's switch in opportunities to a maximum of 4. Finally, since you want to mega evolve as fast as possible with Weavile, use Fake Out to get a safe turn to do so.

Team Options:
Red Orb users such as Primal Groudon, Raikou and Togekiss make for good partners for their ability to check bulky Steel- and Water-types such as Arceus-Steel, Suicune, and Manaphy. Primal Groudon is recommended because it also does the key job of setting Stealth Rock, allowing Weavile to revenge kill more easily. Also entry hazard removers, specifically Arceus-Ground, are great team members for Weavile, as they get rid of the dreaded Stealth Rock. Arceus-Ground is recommended specifically for its ability to handle most Steel-types. Another good team member for Weavile is Venusaurite Zapdos, being able to stall out most of its weaknesses, which also works as a good slow pivot for Weavile, using Volt Switch to get it in. Other slow pivots such as Scizor are also good teammates for Weavile, weakening the opponent's Pokemon and then allowing Weavile to come in safely off of the U-turn or Volt Switch. Tapu Koko, a faster pivot, makes for a great partner because of its ability to safely check Water-types such as Suicune and Manaphy and can use Volt Switch to get out quickly. Finally, Pokemon such as Golisopod are good team members because they appreciate Weavile's revenge killing skills and ability to take down Pokemon like Dragonite and Zygarde.

Strategy Comments:

Other Options:

Swords Dance can be used to boost Weavile's Attack to even higher stages, but it misses out on the coverage that Throat Chop and Low Kick give it. Pursuit could be used instead to allow Weavile to trap Pokemon and net a KO or get free damage off. Double-Edge could also be used over Return; however, its recoil means that Weavile's survivability goes down even further. Finally, Knock Off is a possible option for Weavile to take off items. However, it's extremely unreliable and much, weaker since Mega Stones don't activate the 1.5x multiplier.

Checks and Counters:
**Steel-type Pokemon:** Steel-type Pokemon such as Celesteela, Arceus-Steel, and Magearna are good checks for Weavile, since not only do they take minimal damage from its STAB attacks, they threaten to KO back with their own STAB moves. However, most of them must be wary of Low Kick. Additionally, Celesteela doesn't usually worry about Low Kick, resists Ice-type moves with Venusaurite and threatens to KO.
**Water type Pokemon:** Water Type Pokemon such as Manaphy, Suicune, and Arceus-Water resist Weavile's attacks, allowing them to stall it out.
**Fire type Pokemon:** Fire Type Pokemon such as Red Orb Togekiss and Red Orb Raikou not only resist and easily KO Weavile with their STAB moves, but they're a prominent force in the metagame because of Red Orb giving the Fire type to any pokemon that wields it
**Bulky Venusaurite Users:** Any Pokemon, such as Zapdos or Celesteela, that uses Venusaurite can usually take on and KO Weavile, since Ice-type moves are its main way of dealing damage.
**Faster Pokemon:** Pokemon such as Pherosoma, +1 Dragonite, Choice Scarf Xerneas, and Kartana can take advantage of Weavile's frailty and OHKO it easily with most moves.
**Bulky Pokemon:** Any Pokemon, such as Arceus or Tyranitar, that can survive one of Weavile's hits and attack back can usually deal with it.
**Stealth Rock:** Since Weavile is weak to Rock-type moves, Stealth Rock shortens its lifespan, limiting Weavile to a maximum of four switches. Furthermore, most Pokemon, such as Arceus-Rock and Tyranitar, that set Stealth Rock can easily beat Weavile.

Overview

  • In Mix and Mega, Weavile has the niche of being the go to pokemon you use if you need Ice Coverage. No need to specify the tier, and it isn't coverage; this would probably be just better as "is the best ice-type in the metagame
  • A powerful physical attacker, Weavile can outspeed 90% of the metagame after mega evolution, and outprioritize the rest. Split into Speed bullet and priority bullet, in the priority bullet mention how it revenges dnite and maybe zyggy too
  • Good offensive typing
  • Due to it's state as a powerful physical attacker, it can force many switch-ins when out on the field.
  • The definition of a glass cannon, Weavile doesn't have many switch-in opportunities, on account of being both extremely frail and weak to entry hazards such as stealth rock.
  • Finally, Weavile really struggles with which type of coverage it should use, with Throat Chop and Low Kick fighting for space on it's move set. The 4mss isn't that strong, probably cut this; also throat chop is stab
  • poor move options
  • few resistances/etc

Moves:

  • Fake Out is a key move for Weavile, allowing it to deal free damage on opponents, as well as breaking Mimikyu's disguise + Dragonite's Multiscale. and letting it revenge KO boosted sweepers (agan dnite)
  • Feint is another very good move for Weavile, allowing to beat out slower pokemon using extreme speed, as well as outprioritizing most other moves.
  • Hitting 122 base power after the refrigerate boost no need to mention BP, Weavile's Return is a huge threat to any pokemon that doesn't resist it. It's your basic high powered STAB move of choice on this set.
  • Throat Chop is a good move that can be used on Weavile for Dark type STAB, and the fact that it takes out sound-based move such as boomburst / hyper voice is an added bonus. Not only that, but it allows Weavile to deal significant damage to Cresselia, a powerful wall in the metagame. Nobody uses those, it's just stab rlly
  • Low Kick is another good move that can be used on Weavile since it provides good coverage and knocks down bulky steel types that resist your refrigerated moves such as (give examples), as well as opposing Weavile and arceus-rock.
Set Details:

  • Glalitite is really the only item you want to use on Weavile in Mix and Mega. Giving a large boost to attack and speed, as well as Refrigerate, Glalitite allows Weavile to spam higher powered ice type moves and have access to stronger STAB as well. Describe it, don't sell it; mention that it gives attack, speed, and refridgerate.
  • Refridgerate bullet
  • 252 attack + 252 Speed EVs coupled with a Jolly nature allow Weavile to have the strongest offensive presence it can possibly have, as well as keeping it at a high speed tier. split this into speed and attack, mention key things jolly weavile outspeeds (Manaphy, absolite Tapu lele)
Usage Tips:

  • Due to Weavile's extremely frail state and inability to usually switch-in safely, it's best used as a cleaner when all of it's checks / counters are gone. nooo it's more of a revenge killer
  • Revenge kill threats like...
  • Bring Weavile in with pivots such as...
  • Make sure that Entry hazards are off the field. Having them on the field limit Weavile's switch-in opportunities to a maximum of 4. specify rocks
  • Unlike pokemon such as Pinsirite Genesect or Tapu Koko, you really want to mega evolve as fast as possible with Weavile. combine this with below and cut other examples
  • If you're unsure if it's a good time to mega evolve it's always a good time to mega evolve, really, it doesn't want to stay nonmega, just use Fake Out.
Team Options:

  • Primal Groudon is a great team member for Weavile, dealing with everything that resists Ice type moves quite nicely. except water arceus, and really manaphy, and venusaurite pokemon; put more mention into it taking on steels+some waters and setting rocks which is key
  • Venusaurite Zapdos is also a good team member for Weavile, being able to stall out most of its weaknesses. elaborate, mention pivoting
  • Stallbreakers and Sweepers such as Tapu Lele, Xerneas, Hoopa-Unbound and Dragonite also appreciate Weavile because it can just come in and clean once they've punched major holes in the opposition's team. cut this, this isn't really true, also lele is kind of an awful teammate because weavile needs priority
Strategy Comments:

Other Options:

  • Swords Dance can be used to boost Weavile's attack to even higher stages, but it misses out on the coverage Throat Chop / Low Kick gives it.
  • Frustration can be run over Return to deal with Ditto, but it's usually just an aesthetic choice. don't mention return vs frustration in analyses
  • Iron Tail could be useful to hit fairy, rock and ice types hard, however it's low accuracy makes it less than reliable no, just use return
  • The last option I can suggest is Taunt to shut down non-sablenite walls, but Weavile usually enjoys attacking / boosting moves more. no first person, also no it really doesn't want this
  • Pursuit is a decent option here
  • Knock off can hit ubers that carry items such as xerneas, etc. but is weaker and unreliabel (stress how much worse it is in standard).
  • Double Edge
Checks and Counters:
  • Faster Pokemon: Pokemon such as Pherosoma, +1 Dragonite and Deoxys-Speed no way that's taking advantage, they're dead early on setting hazards or dead to fake out; use kartana or choice scarf xern or etc. as an example can take advantage of Weavile's frailty and OHKO easily with most moves.
  • Ice-type resistances: Any pokemon that resists Ice type moves or uses Venusaurite can usually take on Weavile, since that Ice type moves are its main way of dealing damage. Examples of these pokemon are Golisopod, Magearna and Keldeo. keldeo is mediocre, mention Manaphy, put this above faster pokemon and elaborate
  • Bulky Pokemon: Anything that can really live one of Weavile's hit such as and attack back can usually deal with it. this bullet is really short, esp considering how important this is to weavile
  • Primal Groudon: Primal groudon can easily shrug off a return from weavile and threaten to OHKO in return. It can't easily shrug it off, honestly I'd rather ditch this
  • Stealth Rock: Again, since Weavile is weak to rock type moves, Stealth Rock shortens it's lifespan by quite a lot, making Weavile even easier to knock out. Not only that, but it limits Weavile to a maximum of four switch-in opportunities. and the pokemon that set it usually beat weavile
Comments in bold, ping me once this is implemented so I can go over it again.

-Buff this section up. Add hazard removers, specifically Groundceus is a good one due to taking on Steel-types
-Tapu Koko is a good teammate for taking on Water-types and being able to gather momentum with Volt Switch
-Remove Parting Shot, Pangoro is bad
-Change the first point to "Red Orb users such as PDon and..." for their ability to check mons Magearna, Manaphy, and Suicune
-Add mons that appreciate what Weavile does (e.g. Goli likes dnite gone)

OTHER OPTIONS
-Looks fine, its OO is fairly limited

CHECKS AND COUNTERS
-Separate the first point into two points, one for Steel-types (such as Magearna) and one for Water-types (such as Suicune)
-Then add a point for Fire-types, such as just about anything with Red Orb
-In another point, mention Venusaurite mons that don't take much from Low Kick / Throat Chop
-In the bulky Pokemon point, don't list Steel-/Water-/Fire-types, list neutral bulky mons that can live a hit and KO back

Offset that last point by saying it doesn't need too much coverage when Ice is such an anti-meta type (a lot of teams don't prepare for it as much since the Kyurem-Black ban)

Glalitite is really the only item you want to use on Weavile in Mix and Mega. Giving +40 attack, +20 Speed and Refrigerate, it transforms Weavile into a monstrously powerful revenge killer. Going back to Refrigerate, the ability turns all of Weavile's Normal-type moves Ice-type and gives it a 1.2x multiplier. This allows Weavile to spam a high powered Ice type return, as well as having STAB priority in Fake Out + Feint. 252 attack EVs allow Weavile to hit as hard as possible, while 252 Speed EVs coupled with a Jolly nature allows Weavile to hit 427 speed, outspeeding key threats such as Metagrossite Mimikyu, Pinsirite / Salamencite Dragonite and Absolite Tapu Lele.

Usage Tips:

Due to Weavile's extremely frail state and inability to usually switch-in safely, it's best pivoted in and used as a revenge killer when Pokemon are weakened. Going off of this, Weavile's high speed and access to high priority moves allow it to revenge kill threats such as Dragonite, Zygarde and Hoopa-Unbound. However, since Weavile is unable to switch-in freely, it's best to use slow pivots such as Zapdos and Scizor to get it in safely. Make sure that Entry hazards, especially Stealth Rock are off the field. Having them on the field limit Weavile's switch-in opportunities to a maximum of 4.Finally, since you want to mega evolve as fast as possible with Weavile, use Fake Out to get a safe mega evolution turn.

Team Options:
Red Orb users such as Primal-Groudon, Raikou and Togekiss make for good partners to Weavilefor their ability to check bulky steel and water types such as Arceus-Steel, Suicune and Manaphy. Primal Groudon is recommended because it also does the key job of setting Stealth Rock, allowing Weavile to revenge kill. On the other hand, hazard removers, specifically Arceus-Ground are great team members for Weavile as they get rid of the dreaded Stealth Rock. Arceus-Ground is reccomended specifically for it's ability to handle most steel types.Another good team member for Weavile is Venusaurite Zapdos, being able to stall out most of its weaknesses. It also works as a good slow pivot for Weavile, using Volt Switch to get Weavile in. Other slow pivots such as Scizor are also good teammates for Weavile, weakening the opponent's Pokemon, then allowing Weavile to come in safely off of the U-turn / Volt Switch. A faster pivot, Tapu Koko makes for a great partner to Weavile because of its ability to safely check water types such as Suicune or Manaphy, and using Volt Switch to get out quickly. Finally, Pokemon such as Golisopod are good team members because they appreciate Weavile's Revenge killing skills, and ability to take down Pokemon like Dragonite and Zygarde.

Strategy Comments:

Other Options:

Swords Dance can be used to boost Weavile's attack to even higher stages, but it misses out on the coverage Throat Chop / Low Kick gives it. Pursuit could be used instead to allow Weavile to trap pokemon and net a KO / get free damage off. Double Edge could also be used over Return, however it's recoil means that Weavile's survivability goes down even further. Finally, Knock off is a possible option for Weavile to take off Uber tiered pokemon's items. However, it's extremely unreliable, and much weaker since Mega stones don't activate the 1.5x multiplier.

Checks and Counters:
**Steel-Type Pokemon:** Steel Type Pokemon such as Celesteela, Arceus-Steel and Magearna are good pokemon to deal with Weavile since not only do they take minimal damage from its STAB attacks, they threaten to KO back with their STAB moves. However, they must be weary of Low Kick. Stress that Celesteela doesn't mind anything Weavile has to offer as it is neutral to Low Kick, runs Venusaurite for Ice resistance, and has Steel STAB to nail Weavile. Just for reference:
  • 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Celesteela: 85-101 (21.3 - 25.3%) -- 99.2% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 Atk Refrigerate Weavile Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Thick Fat Celesteela: 66-78 (16.5 - 19.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Celesteela: 113-133 (28.3 - 33.4%) -- 96.9% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 Atk Refrigerate Weavile Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Thick Fat Celesteela: 85-102 (21.3 - 25.6%) -- 99.7% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
s/o scpinion for the calc n_n

**Water Type Pokemon:** Water Type Pokemon such as Manaphy, Suicune or Arceus-Water not only resist Weavile's attacks, they threaten to KO / handicap Weavile with their STAB moves. Just mention they resists its main STAB moves as this feels like Water is SE against Weavile which isn't true.
**Fire Type Pokemon:** Fire Type Pokemon not only resist and easily KO Weavile with their STAB moves, they're a prominent force in the metagame because of the Red Orb. Put some examples here such as Togekiss (big one) and Raikou (soft check)
**Bulky Venusaurite Users:** Any Pokemon that uses Venusaurite can usually take on and KO Weavile since Ice type moves are its main way of dealing damage. Again examples such as Celesteela and Zapdos
**Faster Pokemon:** Pokemon such as Pherosoma, +1 Dragonite, Choice Scarf Xerneas and Kartana can take advantage of Weavile's frailty and OHKO easily with most moves.
**Bulky Pokemon:** Anything that can really live one of Weavile's hits and attack back can usually deal with it. Pokemon such as Arceus and Tyranitar can take a return / Throat Chop / Low Kick from Weavile and threaten to burn / KO back with Scald / Judgment, respectively. Arceus nor TTar learn Scald :x
**Stealth Rock:** Again, since Weavile is weak to rock type moves, Stealth Rock shortens it's lifespan by quite a lot, limiting Weavile to a maximum of four switch-in opportunities. Not only that, but most Pokemon that set Stealth Rock can easily beat Weavile. (i.e Arceus-Rock, Tyranitar)

Weavile has the niche of being the best Ice-type Pokemon in the metagame. Being a powerful physical attacker, (Does being a powerful physical attacker let Weavile outspeed or outprioritize foes? Not only that, but Weavile also has good offensive typing, hitting most of the metagame for neutral damage. (Add a space after the period.) This and its state as a powerful physical attacker, Thus, it can force many switch-ins switches when out on the field. However, as the definition of a glass cannon, Weavile doesn't have many switch-in opportunities, on account of being both extremely frail and weak to entry hazards such as Stealth Rock. Weavile tends to be held back by its poor movepool learnset; (Comma->Semicolon) however, (AC) due to a lack of preparation for Ice-type coverage, making it an anti-meta offensive typing, Weavile's lack of coverage often doesn't matter. since Ice is such an anti-meta type due to little preparation for it, it sometimes doesn't matter.

It also allowings it to revenge kill boosted sweepers such as Dragonite and Zygarde. Another great move for Weavile, Feint is another great move, which allows Weavile to beat out slower Pokemon using Extreme Speed, as well as out-prioritizing and outprioritizes most other moves. With a Refrigerate boost, Weavile's Return is a huge threat to any Pokemon that doesn't resist it and is the strongest . It's your basic high powered STAB move of choice on this set. There were a lot of very basic errors, such as not having a space after a period, spelling errors, and miscellaneous capitalization. Please use a spelling checker, preferably one with grammar checking as well.
